Bjorn, Elie, Stijn, and Tim decided to turn a friendship into a productive collaboration. The initials of our first names led to our name!

Bjorn is 38 years old and lives in Merelbeke. He is an active table tennis player in 2nd national, ranked B2, and plays at TTC Merelbeke, where he is also the chairman. His career in table tennis started 25 years ago in this club, which provided him with the necessary opportunities. In these 20 years, he became champion three times with the men’s team, won the East Flanders Cup four times, and was runner-up in the Flanders Cup twice. His playing style is based on a good service and a flip backhand. In daily life, Bjorn is a teacher and coordinator in primary education in the Ghent region. Additionally, he is active in the table tennis committee of East Flanders and the youth committee of East Flanders. For BEST, he is responsible for order processing.

Elie is 29 years old and lives in Oosterzele. He is an active table tennis player at the provincial level, ranked C4, and plays at TTC Merelbeke. His career in table tennis started 17 years ago in this club, and he won the East Flanders Cup twice. His playing style is based on topspins with a lot of rotation.

Elie is the website manager for BEST.

Stijn is 31 years old and lives in Zottegem. He is an active table tennis player in 2nd national, ranked B2, and plays at TTC Merelbeke. His career in table tennis started 14 years ago in this club, and he became champion four times with the men’s team, won the East Flanders Cup twice, and was runner-up in the Flanders Cup once. His biggest weapons in table tennis are his hard-to-read serve, his control over the ball, and an unpredictable backhand. Stijn is a train driving instructor at NMBS and a youth trainer, also at TTC Merelbeke. Stijn is responsible for sales and advisory services.

Tim is 46 years old and lives in Merelbeke. He is an active table tennis player in 3rd national, ranked B4, and plays at TTC Merelbeke. His career in table tennis started a long time ago in this club, but he left to play in some other clubs before returning to TTC Merelbeke a few years ago. Tim was Belgian champion mixed doubles D, and runner-up Belgian champion D, has won the East Flanders Cup twice, and can’t count how many times he was runner-up in that same cup. His playing style is based on a simple service and a deadly third ball, whether it’s forehand or backhand. As an experienced veteran 40+, Tim has already achieved many new titles. Tim is the IT director at Securex. Tim handles the accounting and administrative tasks for BEST.
